How to manage your team #7: Huddle up

It may be more difficult today in this age of work-from-home, hybrid teams and Zoom, but a short daily meeting of your team is a great way to build momentum.

For decades, I borrowed a sports concept – the huddle . Each morning, we held a 15-minute meeting during which every employee mentioned what they were handling that day and whether they needed others’ support.

I carried the ritual into agencies and publishing firms, giving the team a voice and helped managers stay in touch. It also provided excellent opportunities to mention achievements, family matters and communicate other developments in the company.
