How to manage your team #12: Giving credit

Giving credit to If someone comes up with a good idea, make sure you give them credit

Many things turn an employee against the boss, but one hot button is when the teammate offers an innovative idea and the boss promotes the idea – and doesn’t properly credit the initiating employee.

A leader who steals credit is an insecure one who will quickly lose the confidence and trust of his or her team.

Giving credit to the one who initiated the idea shows that you’ve cultivated a creative, supportive atmosphere in which your employees are open to contributing improvements for the company good – and that you are secure enough to listen, evaluate, build upon and promote good ideas.
