How to manage your team #16: Family

Ask about their family, whether they have a spouse, doggies or even a pet hamster

Every few days, ask your team members “How’s your family ?” Over time, get clues to be more specific in your check-ins. “Is your mom feeling better?” “Did your doggie recover from …?” You can add notes to their file you’ll know what to ask.

I watched one CEO walk around at day’s end and say … “How are you today?” My team thought the world of him and would often say, “He’s so great. I love him.” All he ever did was ask a quick question.

It doesn’t take much effort from you, but it makes a world of difference.
