How to manage your team #21: Alcohol
No one ever wants to see their boss drunk. Most would rather not see their boss drink at all. A beer or two, maybe, but it just doesn’t pay to risk it with employees.
I once offered to buy a new employee a drink at a bar. We discovered later she was an alcoholic. We had no idea. She later confided she only said yes because she didn’t want to refuse the boss. It led to a relapse. Not good for anyone.
Alcohol is a poison. Don’t let it destroy the stellar career reputation that you must maintain as supervisor.
